Swiss Society for African Studies

Initiative Afrique is an institutional member of the Swiss Society for African Studies. Anyone working on African topics is invited to join the society by following this link.

The next big conference, “African Perspectives on Global Transformations”, is scheduled from 26–28 August 2026 in Basel. Call for panels is open. The conference will be co-organised by SSAS and the Association for African Studies in Germany (VAD). It will deal with transformations in Africa, including the movement of people, the expansion of trade, and reflection on the colonial context.

Anyone can participate in a session/panel about their work and spread the word at their respective faculties. There will also be a roundtable about the work of Initiative Afrique. As there is growing interest, any research related to Africa is welcome.
